5 - Jonah Kagan: Folk Tee

Here's my most finished shirt idea, although it's not finished. It's for the folk festival shirt design competition. I hope they don't get offended...

Lucy Bunny T-Shirts

I had a lot of fun making these shirts and kind-of went overboard. One series of my t-shirts was inspired by latte art. For the first two I wanted to re-interpret"urban-jungle" by making a design entirely out of latte-art leaves and animals. I wanted to have movement in the shirt, the line drawing your eye upwards. The next shirt is all shapes from latte-art that create a random pattern. I tried to make it visually interesting but also coherent and "readable" by adding the larger elements on the right hand side and making a path for your eyes to follow. The Owl shirt is made entirely out of parts of latte art as well. I had fun creating him and thought he deserved a shirt. The flower is also composed of latte art.
Then there is a shirt that comes from an entirely different series of thoughts. I was thinking about what things have same shapes "spots" but that are different. I tried to use gestalt principles of grouping to give it cohesion as well as the repeated dot colors.
The last is a poster that i got inspired to make by all of the FEMSEX posters around campus.

3- Grace Watson. T-shirt ideas

2-Elsa Obus: T-Shirts!

My first T-shirt is supposed to sort of represent dreaming. I like how the dreams are floating up. If I was actually going to sell this though I would probably, definitely not use my own head haha but it was easiest to get it the way I wanted for now by just taking a picture of myself. Also, on a real shirt the whole background would be blue.

This shirt I made for Mande dance class. My "family" in the class has the name Terata and we actually do need to all wear the same thing for our performances so we could all wear this shirt! The elephant is from a trip I took to Africa two summers ago and the background colors are the Mali flag.

My last shirt may seem a little thrown together but I actually like it that way. Catcher in the Rye is one of my favorite books. I guess this T-shirt is a little bit of a tribute to its brilliant writer, J.D. Salinger.

03 - Chris Tyler: Gagarean Theorem, etc...

Gaga vs. Pythagoras. Pop Culture vs. the Academy. Low vs. High? Eh, eh. There's nothing else I can say.

MY OTHER DESIGNS...

Lucy Schultz's T Shirts

1. I liked the idea of having a sketch on my t shirt. After scanning this drawing, I added actual images of irises, eyelashes, earrings, and lips, so as to mix in photographs. Then I changed the features colors to sort of spice things up.

2. For some reason, I felt the urge to put an old creepy window on a t shirt. I put a reflection in it, and then added the same images outside. I wanted to play with the idea that reflections are not real, so instead I made the reflection be an accurate portrayal of nighttime, while the outside is more fanciful.

3. "Amabo" means "I will love" in Latin.

Ok this is my final t shirt image. You would be surprised how long it took me to find a screaming guy. This handsome young fellow just won the 1988 ping-pong olympic gold so you can see why I chose him. The horns are all vintage gramophones and phonographs which I think are really cool. I really wish I could put a border around this but I have now tried for half an hour and I am giving up, please take it on faith that it is cropped where the guy's body ends.

So this is my meerkat idea

I don't really know how I feel about it.

3. Michael Yanagisawa - Tshirt designs

First:

A dove holding ammunition ... ironically the only way to peace? T below with just image, T also posted up with text "End violence fight war." Also considered a statue of liberty with an uzi.

Second: a series of 4 "panel" things intended for a tot, more or less. Giraffe posted up on a T.

Last: The characters mean "sight is a privilege" in the moon alphabet, a language for blind. it has no audience, however

I started this project thinking about the nature of tshirts. The funny thing is that we tend of think of them and design them as flat planes, neutral vehicles for our images, just like pieces of paper. Actually, of course, they're not flat at all, and the aesthetic experience of a tshirt is just as much about the body beneath as it is about the images superficially applied on top.
So I decided to play around with this idea of the body, and how it interacts with design in a tshirt. The first one (on the bottom) is actually the best suited to a tshirt, they got progressively more intricate. They're all made from the same photo of my hand.

my final t-shirt designs are all based on images, themes, and memories that inspire me.
my favorite and final t-shirt design features a pensive John F. Kennedy with his mind in "bloom" this was a really inspiring idea for me at the start of this project. it uses the gestalt principle of movement as it draws the eye up and towards the text.
I am also really inspired by vintage 1920s textiles, Elvis Presley, Dios de Los Muertos, and a harrowing trip that I took to Poland on my 15 birthday and these things found their way into my designs as well.

Candice Low T Shirts

1)This is a sushi monster of sorts desperately trying to chomp on this scrumptious piece of sushi before it gets dipped in soya sauce with wasabi; the monster probably doesn't like wasabi. The characters on the side read "Shou shi shou shi" in chinese, its a pun which means "Operation Sushi."

2)I made this one with my brother/father/various-other-people-I-love-with-bellies in mind, because I come from a family that absolutely loves food and from a country that is a nation of foodies (Singapore). In Singlish (our hybrid form of english) people can say "belly" to mean "very," and I was also thinking about the Radiohead song "Fitter/Happier."

3) That's Sonny Chiba's face and his very hard fist, but I bet he was a real softie inside.

the valentines day first snow murder...

it was the week before valentines day...it was the first big snow of the semester....big expectations all around...tensions were high.................
murder at brown university!!!!

Olivia J Fagon T Shirt 2 and graphic

Olivia J Fagon: 1st T shirt Design and seperate graphic

Allison Barker - T-shirt designs

So these are my three shirts, which are all quite random...

T-shirt 1: I'm in this class called Mande Dance and I though due to the tribes in that class that it would be cool to have my own Maiga tribe shirt. Oh and Elsa gave me the idea about Mande.
T-Shirt 2: So, I saw this graphic tee of a bird made up of birds and I thought piggybanks aren't made up of pigs but of money.
T-shirt 3: So, I want to become an archaeologist most likely when I grow up and I thought to myself, "You sure don't see too many archaeologist t- shirts..." So I made one with a pun!

3 - Leah Cogan - Tshirt designs

<-- Born from the desire to run away. You all know what that's like. The image is not as smooth as I would like it to be but it's the representation that counts. The little human has traveled the world and seen all that there is to see and still he craves more. To wander is to wonder, to wonder is to wander.

A preachy message but a worthwhile one. -->
Both of these designs would have to be placed strategically on the shirt...not sure what that strategy is but we would not want hands on bosoms or little men running on them for that matter.

My third design is not a t-shirt at all. I was tired of sitting at my computer so I decided to knit myself a headband. It's a quaint little thing with reinforced ears flaps and a pretty little floral design on top. You'll all see it tomorrow.

4. Rachel Borders: 3!

Here are my 3 designs. Only the last one is a t-shirt design.
1. Think of this one what you will... I was in a creepy mood.
2. This is just a poster of sorts I made... I redrew the cartoons so see if you can catch some of the changes I made to the classic characters.
3. His Baywatch self will always be in my pot of gold.
