The best way I know how to describe art is as the ability to make something resonate beyond the limits of a space in time; art is something that makes you take that extra second, minute or even hour to appreciate it, whether it’s the intricate wrapping of a box of cakes in Japan, or a fascinating Dali. This is the sheet music for Chopin’s Ballade no.1 in G Minor. Music is essentially, just a passing of time, but the art of writing music is creating something with the intangible passing of time into something tangible, if only somewhere in the recesses of our minds or the tingling of our fingers.
